Welcome to Cinra
A land separated into the four elements–Earth, Air, Fire, and Water–Cinra is full of Elemental Aspects, humanoids built from their own individual element. But there is also a fifth element, Dark, that transcends and encompasses all the other elements. When those in power decide the Dark Aspects can no longer be trusted, war breaks out and the Dark Aspects are all but wiped out. And now, the world is unbalanced and things are starting to fall apart. And that is where we begin our first story….
Book One
In the first book of the Cinra series, Title Still TBD, we meet Mariah, Vance, and their cadre of Aspects looking to find out what is going wrong with Cinra.
Mariah, a magicless midwife, discovers early on that she is one of the hunted, a Dark Aspect, who have been all but killed since the genocidal Dark Dread war that decimated her kind. She finds solace in the care of a member of the Underground, a group that protects the remaining Dark Aspects, and works with him to learn about the growing failings of elemental magic for all Aspects. Alongside them, Vance, a Fire Aspect, brings his expertise while struggling under the blackmail from his brother to reveal Mariah and her compatriots for what they are. As they reach some possible conclusions about the role the Dark Dread war have wrought on the diminishment of fertility and magic together, Vance’s blackmail is called in and Mariah is captured, finding herself alone and betrayed, of which she must find a way out of.
